The proprietary large single-plate CMOS sensor with a camera of 8.2 effective megapixels and 22.5 x 15.0mm* screen offers framing with the realism and quality of a conventional camera. Finest picture quality in a wide range of ISO sensitivity with low noise allows you to produce images for settings from ISO 100 to 1600 (expandable to ISO 3200 with Custom Function).The DIGIC II, an imaging engine that enables high-speed reproduction of high-definition natural colors, achieves smooth gradation even for subjects with high contrast.

The EOS 30D features improved functions for higher quality images.
An "Automatic" mode has been added to the customized "Long exposure noise reduction" feature.* The effective angle of view is equivalent to the normal EF lens focal length multiplied by approximately 1.6 High-speed, wide field of view 9-point AF and ｆ/2.8 at the center AF point. Fitted with the high-precision, wide field of view 9-point AF sensor (fine-tuned to a metering range of EV-0.5 to 18, ISO100 equivalent at a normal temperature). The f2.8 sensor fitted to the central AF point provides high-precision focus detection. Using a lens brighter than f2.8 allows more precise AF shooting. Three types of AF mode can also be selected to suit your purpose, One-Shot AF/AI Servo AF, AI Focus AF. In addition,spot metering has been added to the Metering Mode allowing you to obtain your preferred exposure.

Picture Styles installed to suit the desired look and purpose of your photos.
The EOS 30D is equipped with Picture Styles for various purposes. These Picture Styles allow anyone to create various types of photo to suit the subject, simply by selecting a look or style, such as monochrome or landscape. Customize each Picture Style by adjusting sharpness, contrast and other parameters to suit the results you want: you can also record your own styles obtained by taking the basic style and adjusting different parameters to program new user settings. Up to 750 shots.(CIPA standard compliant conditions of 20C and 50% strobe usage) To compensate for the extra power consumed by the newly 2.5-inch monitor, the EOS 30D has been fitted with microcomputer power management, allowing the same or a greater number of possible shots than before. A warning that the battery is about to expire has also been added to the battery level display, while a four-stage message icon display facilitates smooth battery replacement.

Seamless printing, enhanced PictBridge.
The Print/Share button allows you to print images directly from the camera, making the EOS30D even more user-friendly. Further improvement have also been made to Camera Direct to provide image optimization that enables you to fine-tune color for printing using the camera, or print images can be printed exactly as they are captured on camera. Digital Photo Professional 2.1 with Easy-Photo Print Pro (available in the second half of 2006)/Print Plug-in for Digital Photo Professional improve printer links, allowing large prints to be produced easily, and expanding your photo effect options on prints even more. The EOS 30D opens up a whole new world of printing possibilities.

High speed and high responsivity for greater mobility.
A combination of the EOS 30D's CMOS sensor that enables 4-channel signal reading and the DIGIC II that enables fast image processing has achieved a maximum continuous shooting speed of approx. 5 fps in both One-Shot AF and AI SERVO AF modes. Low-speed continuous shooting (with a maximum continuous shooting speed of approx. 3 fps) has been added to the Drive mode, thus allowing you to select from One-Shot, Low-Speed Continuous Shooting, High-Speed Continuous Shooting and Self-Timer options for more flexible shooting. The EOS 30D is equipped with a 2.5-inch high-definition TFT LCD color monitor with approx. 230,000 pixels and a wide field of view allowing users to view images from wide angle as easily as viewing straight on.* The larger LCD monitors means larger menu text, providing better visibility and operability. The EOS 30D provides six LED modules to illuminate the screen uniformly for crystal clear images even though you change viewing angle. * Field of view: 170 degrees for upper/lower and right/left High end, high performance: the best of EOS 30D quality. Fitted with the EOS 30D's highly responsive high-speed shutter unit (dedicated to APS-C)*. Fitted with EOS DIGITAL Solution Disk, compatible with a variety of accessories.
The EOS DIGITAL Solution Disk supplied with the EOS 30D contains a variety of applications including Digital Photo Professional. Using the EOS Utility, camera communication and camera settings can be performed together, allowing you to use images to the full with these applications in user friendly ways. The EOS DIGITAL Solution Disk also helps users to alter the look of and manage images. Plus, over 50 EF lenses including EF-S lenses can be used with the camera, as well as a range of system accessories including Speedlites, Wireless File Transmitter WFT-E1/E1A and Battery Grip BG-E2.　All of which means the only limits are your imagination, and where you want to use your camera.
